S-Solar and the R&D manager at the time Robert Sundqvist gets awarded both 1st and 2nd prize, "The Skåne Solar Award 2010 for the solar energy system "Orbit" where bort solar panels for heat and hot water are combined with solar cells for electricity in a neat and homogeneous energy system on Villa Åkarp. The house produces more energy than what is consumed during the year. The Solar Energy Handbook is introduced as a learning tool for architects, building engineers and several other professional groups to help accelerate the transition to a fossil-free society.
S-Solar is established as a platform for expansion and the new owners invest more than 15 MEUR in R&D and the next generation solar products and technology. A revolutionary solar energy system is introduced to the market.
A number of investments are implemented to improve re-venue generation capabilities and to increace the capacity. Exoheat is acquired which gives an extended product portfolio and new skills together with a strong position in the domestic market. A new issue to strengthening the capital base is done. Thanks to our long experience in use of solar energy, (genuine fossil-free energy) as a base energy source from the Greenland in the north to New Zealand in the south, we know that solar energy can be used to heat buildings, produce comfort cooling and supply hot water in most types of applications primarily with thermal solar energy and solar electricity as a supplementary energy source. Our award-winning solar energy system "Orbit" from 2010 proves this. But despite this, most decision makers, experts and advisors do not understand the difference between thermal solar energy and electric solar energy. We need to replace our fossil mindset with a fossil-free mindset.
